CITY WILL GO INTO STAGE 3 DECEMBER 13, 2023 Water use restrictions.All requirements of Stage 2 shall remain in effect during Stage 3. Under threat of penalty for violation, the following water use restrictions shall also apply to all persons: (A) Irrigation of landscaped areas with hose-end sprinklers or automatic irrigation systems shall be limited to Sundays and Thursdays for water customers with a street address ending in an even number (0, 2, 4, 6, 8) and Saturday and Wednesday for water customers with a street address ending in an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7, 9); and, further, irrigation of landscaped areas may occur only between the hours of 12:00 midnight to 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. and 12:00 to midnight. However, irrigation of landscaped areas is permitted at anytime if it is by means of a handheld hose, a faucet-filled bucket or a watering can of five (5) gallons or less. (B) The use for washing sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, streets, tennis courts, patios, or other paved areas, except to alleviate immediate health or fire hazards, is prohibited. (C) The use of water from fire hydrants shall be limited to firefighting related activities or other activities necessary to maintain public health, safety and welfare. Routine flushing of fire hydrants for other than health and safety reasons is discouraged. This restriction does not apply to businesses which require the use of water for land development and building construction processes. (D) The irrigation of golf course greens is limited to once per day between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 8:00 a.m. Fairways can only be irrigated on Friday of each week. (E) Bulk water customers will reduce water consumption by 5%. (c) Stage 2 - Mild water shortage conditions. (1) Goal. (A) Achieve a 15% reduction in daily water demand. (B) Mitigate the reduction of the water capacity of Lake Nocona from declining below the 824 msl over an extended period of time. (2) Water use restrictions.All requirements of Stage 1 shall remain in effect during Stage 2. Customers with an even-numbered address (0, 2, 4, 6, 8,) shall irrigate only on even-numbered days, and customers with an odd-numbered address (1, 3, 5, 7, 9) shall irrigate only on odd-numbered days. (B) The use for washing sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, streets, tennis courts, patios, or other paved areas, except to alleviate immediate health or fire hazards, is strongly discouraged. (C) The irrigation of golf course greens is limited to once per day between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 8:00 a.m. Fairways can only be irrigated on Friday of each week. Stage 1 - Seasonal water shortage conditions. (1) Goal.Raise public awareness and achieve a 30% reduction in peak daily water demand. (2) Demand management measures.A conservation surcharge shall be paid by each customer whose water use exceeds their yearly target use. The yearly target use for each customer will be established by the city council at the beginning of each fiscal year, and a monthly base billing amount will be established for each customer, based on a volume equal to 1/12 of their yearly target use. If a customer’s cumulative usage for the year exceeds their yearly target use, the customer will be charged a conservation surcharge established by the city council for each 1,000 gallons, or portion thereof, used in excess of the yearly target use. The conservation surcharge is in addition to the monthly base billing amount. (3) Voluntary water use restrictions. (A) Water customers are requested to limit the irrigation of landscape area. Customers with an even-numbered address (0, 2, 4, 6, 8) are requested to irrigate only on even-numbered days, and water customers with odd-numbered address (1, 3, 5, 7, 9) are requested to irrigate only on odd-numbered days. (B) Water customers are requested to limit use for washing sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, streets, tennis courts, patios, or other paved areas, except to alleviate immediate health or fire hazards. (C) Golf course operators are requested to voluntarily limit the use of greens for irrigation of golf fairways to once per week and the irrigation of golf course greens to once daily.

Nocona was so name after the Comanche Indian Chief, Peta Nocona. In 1887, the MK&T Railroad came to town bringing rapid growth to the area. Nocona was incorporated as a city in 1891 with it's population growing to 900 by the year 1900. Nocona's history is rich with agriculture, manufacturing, and petroleum.
