and has a population of 3,002. Nocona was so name after the Comanche Indian Chief, Peta Nocona.
In 1887, the MK&T Railroad came to town bringing rapid growth to the area. Nocona was incorporated as a city in 1891 with it's population
growing to 900 by the year 1900. Nocona's history is rich with agriculture, manufacturing, and petroleum.
